FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

“What’s included with the free app?”

The app will always be free; it’s how we deliver our publication. There’s a free trial issue included, and we’ll send a notification to your device when each new issue becomes available (however, you will only receive these “push notifications” if you authorized them in your settings). Subscribe to get new issues automatically delivered each month.

“How much does it cost to subscribe? How does subscription work?”

Tales To Go publishes a new issue of four stories each month. You can subscribe to a web-based version ($20/year) that will work on any internet-enabled device, or through the Tales To Go app on the App Store for iPhone and iPad only. The app version is $1.99/month or $19.99/year (12 issues). When you subscribe, new issues are automatically delivered to your device once a month. You can cancel your subscription at any time.

“Can I buy a single issue?”

Certainly. To purchase a single issue without a subscription, or to read issues from before your subscription began, you can pay for them individually at $3 per issue on the web or $2.99 from the App Store. To see all the available issues, go here, OR tap the Back Issues button inside the app (from the “flap” or table of contents).

“Can I have my subscription sent to my Android, Kindle, or other device?”

YES! As of April 2015, we offer a web-based version of Tales To GoYou can read it from any internet-enabled device, including laptops, personal computers, and non-Apple phones and tablets. You can also synch your existing App Store subscription to all of your devices.

“Can I submit a story? And do you pay writers?”

Yes, and yes. Please read the full submission guidelines and at least one issue of Tales To Go before you submit a story to us. Then, fill out the online submission form (you’ll find the link in our guidelines). Please note, we are not able to accept email or snail-mail story submissions. Sorry about that, but we are a small, multiple-hat-wearing crew.

“I’m an app subscriber, but I don’t see the latest issue. How do I get it?”

When you open the app, you should see a link that says “Download the new issue.” Just tap! If the app is already open on your device, you can either a) close it and re-open to see the link, or b) tap the Back Issues button to see all available issues, including the latest one.
